Understanding Community Benefits from Offshore Wind Development

Led by Oregon State University, and including partners at University of Maine, University of Washington, and Cal Poly Humboldt, Pacific Marine Energy Center, Renewable Northwest, Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians, and Maine, Oregon and Washington Sea Grant the research team is conducting collaborative research with support from the US Department of Energy, Wind Energy Technology Office (DOE WETO). The research seeks to investigate and disseminate information about local benefit agreements. Research tasks include analyzing current benefit agreements and arrangements, interviewing offshore wind developers and community stakeholders, and surveying six different rural coastal communities on both coasts. Jeremy Firestone is the UD Co-PI.
